My research interests are broadly oriented around the microbial controls over ecosystem processes, the impacts of human activity on those controls, and the specific relationships between soil microbial patterns and processes and the biogeochemical cycling of important elements. While my scientific pursuits to date reflect a diversity of interests, this work has been unified by a common theme: understanding the specific role of microorganisms in regulating the major biogeochemical processes and cycles.
